Located in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, Conestoga College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning is a public college. Conestoga, which was founded in 1967, enrols 11,000 full-time students, 30,000 part-time students, and 3,300 apprentice students across its campuses and training facilities in Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph, Stratford, Ingersoll, and Brantford.
The Conestoga College of Applied Arts and Technology was one of many schools created at the time by the Ontario government to award diplomas and certifications in career-related, skills-oriented programmes. The college was formed in 1967. When the government expanded the school’s capabilities in 2012, specifically to give degrees in technology-based fields, it renamed the institution.
In collaboration with the University of Windsor, it has added programmes over the years, such as the Master of Business Administration degree. The college also provides a brand-new nursing programme that leads to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc.N.) degree. The Doon Campus in Kitchener serves as the location for all four years of education for nursing programme applicants accepted by Conestoga. The McMaster University will award degrees to programme alums.
Two new programmes that would be the first to grant degrees to students solely through the institution started in August 2003. These are the B.Eng. Mechanical Systems Engineering programme and the B.A.Tech Architecture – Project and Facility Management programme, both of which are fully approved engineering programmes by Engineers Canada. 2007 saw the addition of a third B.A.
